Avian Naturals
Absolutely "NO"
chemicals, additives, preservatives, sugars, artificial flavors or salt
added. All ingredients are either organic or human grade.
I am always on the lookout for something different for our
guys that is wholesome and will capture their interest and taste buds
without loading them with artificial/unsafe ingredients. We decided
to try Avian Naturals and to say that I was impressed is an
understatement! The mixes were very fresh and they smelled
wonderful. I also liked the wide variety of ingredients and the fact
that the mixes contained lots of "small" things which help to
promote foraging. The real test
was going to be what my guys thought.
The Avian Naturals replaced
the pellets in their cages and when we put them in their bird room for the
night, we waited in the doorway and
watched. It was rather comical to watch everyone eyeball their food
cups with suspicion. I left them alone for about an hour and then
came back in to turn out the light. All the heads were buried in
their food cups. Nobody even said good night to be me when I turned
out the light!
After using Avian Naturals
for more than a year, I can say that the food has been a huge hit.
Our guys spend much more time foraging in their food
dishes than they ever did. When I pull out the containers to fill up
the cage food cups at bedtime, all our birds dance on their playgyms in
anticipation. Once they hear the new food going into the cups, there
is immediate take off and they fly as a flock (a truly incredible sight)
into the bird room. I would say the food is a big hit.
Hint:
Please remember that
whatever "dry" food you feed your bird should only be a part of
its diet. Birds should also be fed leafy greens, fresh veggies and fruit,
as well as grains and legumes.
