some interactive play. Our
cockatiel, Kula, happens to like this
toy. While he obviously can't hold
it, he does like to fuss with the rings
and it actually keeps him occupied for a
while.

Sometimes when you design a toy, you
happen to hit on something that everybody adores the minute they see
it. That happens so rarely in our house, primarily because of the bird
you see above. For those of you old enough to remember the Life
cereal commercials, Sam is our "Mikey" bird. While toys
don't necessarily frighten him, he tends to ignore them until he deems
them worthy of his time. He is our
toughest critic when it comes to toys and it takes him the longest to
accept them. That's why when I come up with something that he grabs
from me the first time he sees it, I have a tendency to jump up and down
with joy (well almost). This is one of these toys. Every
single bird in our house grabbed one upon introduction and were totally
enthralled. The photo above was snapped immediately upon
introduction. I think I'm going to frame this picture!
Now on to the toy description... The above photo
on the left shows all
three sizes, but this listing is for the small, which is what Sam
has. The toy is made with soft formaldehyde-free leather and laced
up to form a closed pocket. Inside this toy is an almond, which
birds can see through the hole. A jumbo pony bead dangling off the
lace just begs for attention. Approximate measurements are 2"
x 2.5".

This foot toy pairs brightly colored plastic
beads with irresistibly chewy leather. The curved shape of this toy
makes it very easy to hold, especially for young birds. We've left the
extra-thick leather laces long enough for the toy to be restrung and
knotted. Knowing how enthralled birds are with knots, we can imagine
you'll be doing that quite frequently! A bit hit with our Greys,
including our Timneh!

This toy is very lightweight and easy to hold. Our guys were divided on
which parts were their favorites to chew, but there wasn't much left when they
were done.
