Hide-N-Treat - Gargantuan

Normally the next step in size after extra large listed above would be jumbo, but this one is sooooooo big we just bypassed it and went right on to gargantuan!  This toy has an overall length of 21" and the toy body itself is 14" long, 16" wide and has three legs that are an 1 1/2" in diameter each.  This toy comes filled with all kinds of goodies (wood turnings, plastic toy parts, nuts, etc.) for the big guys and the easy screw-off caps make it a breeze to refill.  I think the best part is that the fill capacity goes all the way to the very top and as things are removed, gravity draws new items down into the tubes.  This toy is absolutely ideal for the big guys that share a play area, but fight over toys.  Two to three macaws can have a go at it together and not be crowded.  The heavy duty hardware on this toy is stainless steel and nickel plated.  Chain and o-ring are welded closed for the safety of your parrot.

Ticker Tape Parade #4-25
I don't know of any bird that does not love paper so we designed something a little fancier than the standard paper holders currently on the market. This version of Ticker Tape Parade is designed for the big guys and can be used on playgyms or in cages. Aside from all the paper to unroll, there are plenty of brightly colored, high-impact plastic beads to beak and lots of interstar rings to spin.    It is approximately 15" long and 13" wide.  This toy is made with stainless steel wire and nickel plated chain.  All quick links are stainless steel.  The paper can easily be changed by a removing one quick link.  All paper is untreated and replacement rolls can be purchased below.  This toy uses some welded 2.5mm nickel plate chain.

Parrot Photo: Indigo heads down to check out Ticker Tape parade and then get to work on chewing paper.  While I know that Delilah doesn't even look remotely like a big bird, she was squeaking away when we hung this toy for Indigo.  She has one of her own, but I recently swapped it out for something else.  I find it difficult to resist a squeaking Grey Bird so she got to finish off Indy's roll when he stopped playing with it.  Delilah's photo will also give you a better idea of just how big this toy really is.

Ticker Tape  #4-24
Ticker Tape is designed to be used in cages.  Just spread out the pear links as shown in the photo on the right and let your parrot go to town.  Aside from paper chewing, there are brightly colored jumbo and superlarge beads to beak and large interstar rings to spin.  Metal chain is closed welded and all hardware is stainless steel.  To replace the roll of paper, just remove the quick link.  Paper is untreated and refills can be purchased.  This toy uses welded 2.5mm nickel plate chain..

Puzzle Toys

Recommended for African Greys and other toy-shy parrots.

We carried the Puzzle Box three years ago and they were a super hot seller.  When they sold out and we were unable to get more, we had a lot of disappointed customers.  Well guess what?  They're baaaaaack and at the same low price from years ago!  Not only that, but we've added two more cool puzzle toys from the same line, the Puzzle Wheel and the Puzzle Boat.

These toys extremely multi-faceted.  They can be used to teach color, shape and sorting.  Even if your bird has absolutely no interest in these toys for the educational value, there's plenty of good chewing fun to be had!  All the sorting shapes are made of chewy plastics and can be enjoyed as foot toys.  These toys are recommended for "flat surface" playtime (tabletop, floor or bed) and supervision is recommended.  They make a great socialization tool; grab some sorting shapes and play alongside your bird.  Wonderful for socializing the youngsters!

Puzzle Box:  The Puzzle Box is about 5 1/4" and is made of chewable plastic.  It comes with a variety of sorter shapes which are made of softer plastic.   The Puzzle Box comes apart easily

Puzzle Wheel:  The Puzzle Wheel is approximately 6.5" long and 3" high.  It is made of the same chewy plastic as the Puzzle Box and has the same sorter shapes.  The Wheel comes apart, but not as easily as the Puzzle Box.

Puzzle Boat:  The Puzzle Boat is approximately 7" long and 5.5" high.  The plastic is a tad more rigid than the other two, but the sorter shapes are chewy.  Two things to note:  There are two sets of tiny wheels on a bar under the boat (it can roll on a flat surface if pulled)  and there are four tiny screws (inset into the plastic) that hold the top and bottom together.  While these two items should not pose a problem, the wheels can be popped off and the screws removed with a screwdriver (a tiny phillips) if desired.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  These toys are recommended for supervised playtime only.   These toys are NOT recommended for cockatiels and similar sized birds.

Interactive and puzzle type toys are wonderful for birds, as it stimulates and challenges them.  Toys like Ring Stack above can also be used to teach them concepts such as color and stacking.  It is incredible to watch how much they are also able to figure out on their own.  Delilah above knew how to remove the rings, but what shocked me was that she was also able to put them back (see first photo) with no coaching from me.  This toy was well accepted and the rings are very durable.  Choice of either the MEDIUM (medium parrots conures, pionus, senegals and similar sized parrots) or LARGE (macaws and cockatoos)

Teaching Bank

This is another fun educational toy that can be used to improve coordination and teach colors.  The acrylic bank, which is open on the bottom, has various slots which allow your bird to make a "deposit" of brightly colored acrylic coins.  When your bird is finished making deposits, just lift the bank up and all the coins are in a pile, ready to be deposited all over again.  While this toy is wonderful for educational purposes, my guys just love it for the fun it provides and as you can see from the photos, those acrylic coins make wonderful foot toys!  This toy is safe for conure sized bird all the way up to the big guys.

Psitta Puzzle

This is the birdie version of a jigsaw puzzle, done in tough acrylic.  This puzzle can be used to improve coordination and teach your bird color and shapes.  More importantly, birds just love it for its entertainment value.  The puzzle comes with four large pieces, each a different shape in a different primary color.  Recommended sizing:  Conure sized birds up to the big guys

Color Cubes

One of the things our guys really enjoy is spending time outside sunning and showering.  We are fortunate enough to have a large screened enclosure which makes it possible for them to do so safely.  While they are drying off, we usually put out a number of foot toys on our patio table for them to play with.  During this outdoor excursion, we introduced the colored cubes, which appear above.  As you can tell, they were a big hit!

These colored cubes come in a set of 4 primary colors and are made of very durable acrylic.  The approximate size of each cube is 2 x 1 3/4".  There is a panel that slides up and down, but is not removable.  You can place a favorite treat or toy part into the cube and watch as your bird figures out how to open the box and enjoy the reward.  Not only does this toy help promote foraging, but it is an easy way to teach your bird the concept of colors.

NOTE:   These toys come with instructions for proper use and we ask that you read them before giving them to your bird.   Units are glued, not molded and are meant for tabletop play as shown in the pictures above.

Sometimes when you design a toy, you happen to hit on something that everybody adores the minute they see it.  That happens so rarely in our house, primarily because of the bird you see on the top right.  For those of you old enough to remember the Life cereal commercials, Sam is our "Mikey" bird.  While toys don't necessarily frighten him, he tends to ignore them until he deems them worthy of his time.  He is our toughest critic when it comes to toys and it takes him the longest to accept them.  That's why when I come up with something that he grabs from me the first time he sees it, I have a tendency to jump up and down with joy (well almost).  This is one of these toys.  Every single bird in our house grabbed one upon introduction and were totally enthralled.  The photo above was snapped immediately upon introduction.  

Now on to the toy description...   The toy is made with soft formaldehyde-free leather and laced up to form a closed pocket.  Inside this toy are almonds, which birds can see through the holes.  Appropriate sized beads dangle off the hanging lace.  Approximate measurements are Small....2" x 2.5"; Medium...3" x 2.5; and Large...5" x 2.5".  Sizing recommendations:  Small for Conure sized and medium parrots; Medium for medium sized and larger parrots; Large for the big guys.

Stainless Steel Treat Cages

These stainless steel treat cages are lots of fun and will keep your bird entertained for hours. This is a great way to recycle all those toy parts remaining from various toys. The search for and removal of coveted chewey things will help to promote your parrot's natural foraging instincts.

The sky is the limit when filling these treat cages, but in case you don't want to, we'll be happy to fill them for you. Our filled cages come stuffed with hard and soft natural wood, pine shapes and hardwood turnings, plastic toy parts, various nuts, leather scrap, fabric scrap, rope for preening, chew sticks, shredders and other assorted items. Please note that the contents will vary from cage to cage.
