Parrots are highly intelligent and need stimulation beyond just chewing toys. They need to be challenged both mentally and physically. One of the best ways to accomplish this is by providing toys that promote foraging behavior, the act of seeking and finding. Also toys that require some kind of "do this" in order to "get that" are another means of helping to keep your parrot intellectually sharp and emotionally satisfied.

The bird toys in this section are designed with this in mind and will help to keep your parrot healthy, happy and challenged.

Hide-N-Treat

Our Hide-N-Treat foraging toys provide hours of challenging play and nurture the natural foraging instincts of parrots. These toys COME FILLED with appropriately sized plastic toy parts and nuts (almonds for medium and large, mixed nuts for extra large). With some effort, the nuts can be removed, but the plastic parts remain within the tube, providing for hours of additional play. The bottom cap unscrews so the Hide-N-Treat can be refilled.

These toys are durable, fully washable and are made with stainless steel and nickel plated hardware. The chain and o-rings are heavy duty on all toys and we have welded the o-rings closed for the safety of your parrot.

Medium Almond Hide-N-Treat - For Conure and Medium sized parrots. Our 1" diameter tube comes with durable plastic parts and almonds. Overall length of this toy is 15".

Large Almond Hide-N-Treat - For Macaws and Large Cockatoos. Our 1 1/2" diameter tube comes with durable plastic parts and almonds. Overall length of this toy is approximately 14".

Mac Nut Hide-N-Treat - For Hyacinth and Greenwings. Our 1 1/2" diameter tube comes with durable plastic parts and Mac Nuts! Overall length of this toy is approximately 16".

Ticket Tape #3-71

Recommended for African Greys and other toy-shy parrots.

I don't know any bird that doesn't love chewing up paper and adding machine rolls are a definite favorite. We've designed something a little prettier and more interactive to hold that much loved roll of paper. Ticker Tape is designed to be used in cages. Just spread out the pear links as shown in the photo on the right and let your parrot go to town. Aside from paper chewing, there are brightly colored jumbo pony beads to beak, jumbo beads to slide and interstar rings to spin. Metal chain is closed welded and all hardware is nickel plated. To replace the roll of paper, just remove the pear link. Paper is untreated and refills can be purchased. See the item listing below for our cage and perch model. After designing ticker tape, it became obvious very quickly that it would not work on playgyms as the paper unrolled by itself. Back to the drawing board I went and Ticker Tape Parade was born! Ticker Tape Parade is designed to be used on playgyms and in cages. Besides lots of paper to chew, there are brightly colored jumbo pony beads to beak, jumbo beads to slide and interstar rings to spin. This toy is made with SS wire and nickel plated chain. Detachable pear links allow the adding machine reel to be replaced when finished. Paper is untreated and refills can be purchased. Recommended sizing: Conure sized and medium parrots.

Ticker Tape Parade #4-25

I don't know of any bird that does not love paper so we designed something a little fancier than the standard paper holders currently on the market. This version of Ticker Tape Parade is designed for the big guys and can be used on playgyms or in cages. Aside from all the paper to unroll, there are plenty of brightly colored, high-impact plastic beads to beak and lots of interstar rings to spin. It is approximately 15" long and 13" wide. This toy is made with stainless steel wire and nickel plated chain. All quick links are stainless steel. The paper can easily be changed by a removing one quick link. All paper is untreated and replacement rolls can be purchased below. This toy uses some welded 2.5mm nickel plate chain.

While I know that Delilah doesn't even look remotely like a big bird, she was squeaking away when we hung this toy for Indigo. She has one of her own, but I recently swapped it out for something else. I find it difficult to resist a squeaking Grey Bird so she got to finish off Indy's roll when he stopped playing with it. Sometimes when you design a toy, you happen to hit on something that everybody adores the minute they see it. That happens so rarely in our house, primarily because of the bird you see on the top right. For those of you old enough to remember the Life cereal commercials, Sam is our "Mikey" bird. While toys don't necessarily frighten him, he tends to ignore them until he deems them worthy of his time. He is our toughest critic when it comes to toys and it takes him the longest to accept them. That's why when I come up with something that he grabs from me the first time he sees it, I have a tendency to jump up and down with joy (well almost). This is one of these toys. Every single bird in our house grabbed one upon introduction and were totally enthralled. The photo above was snapped immediately upon introduction.

Now on to the toy description... The toy is made with soft formaldehyde-free leather and laced up to form a closed pocket. Inside this toy are almonds, which birds can see through the holes. Appropriate sized beads dangle off the hanging lace. Approximate measurements are Small....2" x 2.5" and Medium...3" x 2.5; and Large...5" x 2.5". Sizing recommendations: Small for Conure sized and medium parrots; Medium for medium sized and larger parrots.

Stainless Steel Treat Cages

These stainless steel treat cages are lots of fun and will keep your bird entertained for hours. This is a great way to recycle all those toy parts remaining from various toys. The search for and removal of coveted chewey things will help to promote your parrot's natural foraging instincts.

The sky is the limit when filling these treat cages, but in case you don't want to, we'll be happy to fill them for you. Our filled cages come stuffed with hard and soft natural wood, pine shapes and hardwood turnings, plastic toy parts, various nuts, leather scrap, fabric scrap, rope for preening, chew sticks, shredders and other assorted items. Please note that the contents will vary from cage to cage.

All components are stainless steel and the chain is welded closed. Sizes available are as follows:
