Bird Toy Parts.... Wood
Turnings
One of the integral parts for
the toymaker is definitely wood. While bird toys made of plastic parts
are all the rage these days, it is important not to forget to give your bird
toys that have at least some wood components to chew. In my experience,
it seems to give birds a higher level of satisfaction during breeding season
than plastic AND it is far better at keeping beaks properly groomed. This
section will continue to grow over the next few months and will include a
variety of dyed and undyed wood. Be sure to check back periodically.
Bag
of Assorted Turnings
This assortment bag is sold by the pound and may vary in contents and size. Shapes can include balls, beads,
knobs, pegs, finials, eggs, cups, pails, etc. In some bags, there may be a
very small quantity of items that are too small to drill. These can be used
as foot toys.
Choice of drilled or undrilled. If you would like your bag drilled,
choose either:
3/16" (Paulie Rope and 1/8" Leather Laces); or
9/32" (1/4" Supreme Cotton Rope, 1/4" Leather Laces,
1/4" Sisal Rope).

Turnings 
No drilling required! All these
turnings come with holes already in them. All you need to do is
string. Most of the assortment is geared toward medium and large
parrots. The mix varies and can include items like wheels, cups, rings,
handles, knobs, discs. Most of the hole sizes vary between
3/16" and 1/2". Sold by

Bag of Hearts
The hearts vary in size and thickness, but
make wonderful additions to toys There may be a very small amount of
hearts that are too small to drill. These can be used as foot
toys. Each bag is approximately one pound.
Choice of drilled or undrilled. If you would like your bag drilled,
choose either:
3/16" (Paulie Rope and 1/8" Leather Laces); or
9/32" (1/4" Supreme Cotton Rope, 1/4" Leather Laces,
1/4" Sisal Rope).
14mm Oval Beads
These oval beads are perfect for small toys, as well as toys for
Greys, Amazons and Cockatoos. Bead size is approximately 14mm
and the hole size is approximately 3/32". String them with Paulie Rope
or 1/8" Leather Laces. Each bag
contains approximately 120 beads.

14mm Colored Oval Beads
These
oval beads are the same as those listed above. These beads
come in a super bright mix which may include all or some of the
following colors: red, blue, teal, yellow, orange, lime
green,
emerald green, pink and purple. String them with Paulie Rope or
1/8" Leather laces.

16mm Colored Round Beads - 5/16"

These beads are approximately 5/8" in
diameter and have a hole size of approximately 5/16". These beads
work well with 1/4" and 5/16" Supreme Cotton Rope, 1/4"
Leather laces and 1/4" Sisal Rope. The color mix may include all
or some of the following colors: red, blue, teal, yellow, orange, lime
green, emerald green, pink and purple.

1 1/2" Wooden Wheels
These wheels are an 1 1/2" in diameter have have
a 1/4" hole. You can use Paulie Rope, Supreme Cotton Rope and
1/8" leather laces to string them. The color mix may include all

green, emerald green, pink and purple.

Colored Hardwood Squares
These colored hardwood squares
are 1" and come with a 9/32" hole. These squares
can be used with leather laces (both 1/8" and 1/4"),
Supreme Cotton Rope (1/4' and 5/16") and 1/4" sisal
rope. The color mix may include all
or some of the following colors: red, blue, teal, yellow, orange, lime
green, emerald green, pink and purple.

Colored Pine Squares
Birds just love these soft and chewy pine
squares! They are approximately 1.5" and come in a brilliant
color mix which may include all or some of the following colors: red, blue, teal, yellow, orange,
lime green, emerald green, pink and purple.
Choice of drilled or undrilled. If you would like your
squares drilled,
choose either:
3/16" (Paulie Rope and 1/8" Leather Laces); or
9/32" (1/4" & 5/16" Supreme Cotton Rope, 1/4" Leather Laces,

Jumbo Craft Sticks
The Jumbo Craft Sticks are approximately 6" long with a 3/4" width.
Each bag has a mix of colored and uncolored sticks. These
thin sticks are wonderful for birds who are not big chewers and prefer to nibble
on thin wood pieces. Use them in toys or as very inexpensive foot
toys. They also make a wonderful additional in treat cages.
Tip:
These come undrilled but are incredibly easy to make holes in using a paper or
leather hole punch.

Wood Blocks and Sticks
The pairing of blocks and sticks in this combination
allows for a number of possibilities. Each component can be used
independently, the sticks as foot toys (use individually or in a tied bundle);
the blocks as bite size foot toys or as toy parts for parakeets, cockatiels or
similar sized birds. These components can also be used
together. Each side of the square has interconnecting holes so no
drilling is required. The sticks can be placed into holes to make funky
foot toys or slide some squares onto a stick or place some sticks into holes and
string several together to make a funky toy. Another idea is to use these to stuff
treat/puzzle toys. Each set comes with 135 brightly colored pieces (100
sticks and 35 blocks)

Craft Spoons
These brightly colored craft
spoons are approximately 3.75" long and 11/16" at
the widest point. These spoons slim and symmetrical on
both sides. Use as inexpensive foot toys or as toy
parts.

leather hole punch.

Grooved Craft Sticks
These craft sticks are very small and thin, which makes
them wonderful foot toys for small and medium parrots. Link them together
to make more substantial foot toys for the larger guys. If you would like
to use them in toys, holes can be punched with a hole or leather punch.
Pick up a couple of packs and you can build a cute little structure that sits on
a playtop for the tiny guys to explore The approximate size is 4 1/2"
long and 3/8" wide. The current stock is a mix of colored and
uncolored sticks.

Cholla Wood
Birds seem to find the unusual shape of cholla
wood very intriguing. It also has many uses. The unusual shape and
numerous holes make it a wonderful choice as a foot toy. Many of the
pieces have a naturally occurring hole in the center, making it a great addition
to toys. They also work well as an addition to treat cages. The wood
currently in stock varies in diameter and length. The general range in
diameter is 1/2" to 1 1/2'. The general length ranges from 1
1/2" to 3".

Bamboo Nuggets
These nuggets vary a bit in diameter and
length. The general diameter range is 3/4" to 1 1/2". The
general length range is 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". The nuggets, while
tough are dry enough to pick apart and shred. Most of the nuggets come in
a naturally occurring hole in the center for stringing. They are also a
good size for foot toys (conure sized to the big guys). Additionally, the
make wonderful additions to treat cages.

Hazelnut Rounds
These natural hazelnut rounds
are lightweight and easy to chew. Being fairly thin
(3/8"), they seem to be much more attractive to birds
that normally shun natural wood. Not only can they be
used in toys, but they make wonderful foot toys. The
rounds vary in diameter from 1.5" up to 2.5".
The rounds come drilled with a 1/4" hole and can be used
with Paulie Rope, 1/8" leather lace and with a little
effort, 1/4" Supreme Cotton Rope.
